Is Russel Changing?

Today we will begin reading chapter 3. After you have finished chapter three, discuss how Russel has become a dynmaic character.

  1. Russel has become a dynamic character because
at first, he was just a boy living in the village, and now he is starting to hunt, run with the dogs, and he has started to create a song. Through doing all these things he has become more familiar with the old traditions, while staying close to the new ones because of his dad. This shows how Russel has become a dynamic character through the story so far.

  2. Russel has become a dynamic character because at the beginning he wasn't happy and he didn't know why. Now Russel is feeling very happy and alive and he likes the idea of dogsledding. He has a purpose in life now and he is creating his song.

  3. I agree with Morse21 because Russel was just a boy in the village, then he is starting to hunt, run with the dogs and creating a song.

  4. I think Russel has changed in a way that shows he hasn't given up on finding a song, so basiclly he is showing strong will and determination of finding a song and with Oogruks advice on hunting and respecting the animals he kills there is a good chance he wont fail.

  5. Russell is a dynamic character, and there are many reasons why he is. At first, he was boy who just wanted to have some of the old ways back. Now, he is completely focused on retrieving his song, and he is hunting, and using a dog sled for the first time. Those are not just SOME of the old ways, but MOST of them.

  6. Russel has become a dynamic character. Before he wasn't sure of his life and he wasn't happy. Now he feels alive and simply feels different after running with the dogs. He's also living by the "old way". He hunts and wears clothing made from animal skins. He also has part of his own song.

  7. I also agree with Morse21. Russel has changed by becoming a boy that goes dog sledding, hunting, and he has started his own song! Before he was a small village boy. Before, he had hunted but not with a bow and arrow. And finally before he had no song of his own.

  8. Russel is dynamic because he stared to create a song, hunt the old way and use a dog sled. While in the beginning he didn't know how to hunt and use a dog sled, he didn't know how to hunt.

  9. Russel has really changed to me. In the beginning he was a normal boy in the village living in the goverment home living in new ways. Now he's running dogs, hunting for food like the old way, starting to live by the old ways again, and trying to find his song.

  11. I think that Russel has changed in many ways. In the beginning of the book Russel seemed unhappy, lonely, and bored. Now in the book he is happy running with the dogs and he is making a new song. Also Russel used to be kind of a boring character and is now becoming familiar with new traditions and becoming a little more exciting therefore Russel is a very dynamic character!

  14. Russel has become a dynamic character because he is starting to hunt the old way, dogsled, and write his song. This is a big difference from the beggining of the book where he relied on the new ways for everything, thus he is becoming a dynamic character.

  15. I think Russel has changed because he cares so much about his religon that he is going to find a song. at the begining he never was laughing but know he actually sounded excited. He also is respeccting the animals that he kills.

  16. I agree with Morse27, Russle is now more livley and has more emotion, before he was just sort of dead.he has more charachter now.

  17. I agree with Morse21. I also think that Russel was once a boy in a village. e din't know what it was like to do the old traditions. But Oogruk has changed his mind about the way of living. He now hunts, runs dogs, and he has created a song.

  18. I agree with morse44 because seriously Russel seems really excited to find a purpose in life! at the beginning he was all like yeah... uhhuh... like teenagers nowadays do! but when he talked to Oogruk he really changed!!!! and he called Oogruk grandfather how often do you hear a teenage boy call a strange old man that?!?!

  19. Russel is becoming a dynamic character because at the begging he did not understand or belive anything about religion but now he trying to find his song.He always starting to use more of the old ways like hunting and running with the dogs. But he uses the new tradtions too. This shows that he is becomign a dynamic character

  20. Russel is a dynamic character because in the beginning the book described him as having an emptiness in his soul. But after ran the dogs, he felt as if the missing part had come back to him

  21. Russel has changed and become a dynamic character since he used to be just a boy in the village who didn't like the "new ways" but still had to follow them. Now, he's incorporating his old traditions in his life and finding something he really likes and enjoying it. He's still respecting the "new ways" but now found out what was bothering him and changing to follow the old traditions, and being excited and happy to do these things. So, this shows how he changed as a dynamic character.

  22. I agree with Morse30. Russel has changed and was used to being a village boy and now he has found out what was bothering him and has found that he can still use the old traditions. This is how Russel has changed

  23. Russel has now changed to become a dynamic character. With all of these modern ways around him, he wasn't happy. He hated the sound of his father coughing up cigarettes, and the sound of the snow mobiles. However, now he is mushing dogs, killing deer with bows, and he has even found part of his song.

  24. I agree with Morse30 100%. He hated the new ways, yet followed him because of pressure and his father. Now, although he still respects the new ways he has found and explored the old ways. He finally feels like he belongs and has a reason for being alive. Lastly, he has started his song, and I beleive it WILL continue to grow along with him. So; with all this, he has become a dynamic charactor.

  25. I think Russel is now a dynamic character. Mostly because before he was lonely, and sad, and I guess upset. Now, Russel is willing for adventure and playing with dogs and hunting! Otherwords, he is more livley then before.

  26. Russel has been a dynamic character because at the beginning of the story he was just a native that didn't like the "new ways" and didnt do anything abouit it. But now he is creating his own song to connect with his dogs and he is hunting with bow and arrows.

  27. I think Russel has changed because he was used to being a villige person and wanting the old ways back. Now he is starting to use the old ways. That is how he changed.

  28. Russel is a dynamic character because in the begining he wanted to dowhat they used to do but didn't, he alsofelt like something was missing. Now he actually does do the old ways and the missing peice was found, he now goes dog sledding, hunting with bow and arrows, and making a song, and know one ever since white men came have sung.

  30. Russel has became a dynamic character because at first he waws unhappy because of everything around him. but he didnt know why he felt like this. but he injoys dogsleding and is creating a song which makes him happy.

  31. Russel is a dynamic character because at first, he didn't really have someone to talk to other than his dad. And Russel doesn't like the new ways like his dad does, so they have their differences. Now Russel is learning about the old ways from Oogruk, like learning how to use a dog sled, hunting with just a bow and some arrows, and learning how to aim. Something surprised me when Russel was making part of a song, who knows what power could be in it. Every song is specail. You also learn things every day and don't seem to notice it, but who knows what he'll learn next!

  32. Russell has become a dynamic character. For example at the beginning of the book he was just a someone who didn’t exactly feel in place and had his own thoughts on ideas. He also wasn’t quite sure that he was liking new changes that were happening and was kind of confused about what to do. Yet now he has become more independent and really taken in everything he has learned to create himself. For example he has started to make up a song and he dog sleds. He can hunt and is very proud of what he Russell is capable of doing and who he is.

  33. Russel has become a dynamic character because in the beginning of the book he felt like something was missing and now he feels that when he starts doing the old traditions he really enjoys it and wants to keep doing it.

  34. Russell has changed necause he use to just be a boy who got annoyed be some of the most simplist things. But, now hes out dog sledding and becoming more open to the world!

  35. Russel has deffinetly became a dynamic character, because he thought before that some thing was missing in his life, but now he knows that it will stop if he starts doing the old traditions. He's also become much more machure, because he is now starting to run with the dogs and hunt with them, plus he is starting to develop a song.

  36. Russel has become a dynamic character because he was just an average boy in a normal village and felt almost bored with his life, especially with all of these modern customs around him, but now he is creating a song, becoming free and running with the dogs, and hunting with all of the old customs, and learning/practiceing the old ways

  37. I think Russel is becoming a dynamic character because now he is haunting for food with a bow and arrow and dogsledding to get there. Tjose ways were some of the old ways. In the beginning he liked the new ways and now he likes the old ways which makes him a dynamic character.
